20kW Rooftop PV System installed in Ougadougou.

Funded by the World Bank, as part of the Solar Capacity Upgrading project (Solar CUP), the Solar Energy Laboratory and Saving (LESEE)  installed a PV system  on its rooftop on 16 March, 2012 .... more

ECREEE promotes the era of Green Energy  in Cape Verde

The first private grid-connected renewable energy household system has been commissioned under the new renewable energy law of Cape Verde. Since November 2011 a PV solar system with an installed capacity of 9,9 kW is serving major parts of the electricity demand of the ECREEE office. During the next weeks the system will be connected to the national grid and ECREEE will sell electricity to the utility.

Call for Proposals


ECREEE has launched the following Calls for Proposal for development and execution of National Renewable Energy Action Plans and Policies;
elaboration of Baseline and Mid-Term Monitoring Reports for the ECREEE; and to Support the Development of the ECOWAS Initiative on Energy Efficiency in Buildings.

ECREEE and GIZ explore new areas for cooperation

ECREEE and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH met on the 22nd of January 2013 to discuss potential areas for collaboration in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency, in the ECOWAS region.



RETScreen trainings in Liberia and Niger


The next RETScreen trainings are undertaken in Niger, from 10 to 14 December 2012 and in Liberia, from 17 to 20 December 2012


ECOWAS Ministers adopt small hydro and bioenergy program


During the ECOWAS High Level Energy Forum the ECOWAS Ministers of Energy approved the ECOWAS program for small-scale hydro power program and a regional bioenergy strategy framework.
